“I’m Alice!” The little girl smiled at her.
Despite her previous calling the man “daddy”, she looked absolutely nothing like him. She had no characteristics of him at all. It was rather obvious they weren’t blood related.
“I’m Aiden,” he nodded to Joine. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, lil miss. Want us to show you around?”
“It’s nice to meet you two, too!” She grinned. “If it’s not too much trouble, I’d like a little, uhh, tour~”

“You can stay here, chicka,” Aiden pointed out. “The manage never checks the empty apartments. She won’t even know you’re here.”
“You sure about that? Cause, I’d love to stay in a nice place like this! I just don’t have any money…”
“I promise~” Aiden smiled. “And if she does somehow find out, you can stay with my brother and I.” He rubbed the back of his head nervously, giving her a light smile. “Ah, you know, if you want. It’s getting late and my bro has the car…”
“Ah, uh. Okay!” She gave him a derpy smile. “Uhhh, which apartment?”
“Apartment 5C is the available apartment if you wanna take up the offer of staying in an unoccupied apartment. Apartment 3E is mine if you’d like to stay with my family and I.” He pointed to an apartment building across the lot from them. “That building is E.” He then pointed to the building they were standing near that he was previously sitting at. “That’s C… Confusing, I know.” He chuckled softly before taking a small hit from his cigarette.
Joine coughed a bit at the cigarette smoke. “I-I’ll get used to it. Hehe~”
Noticing her slight discomfort at the cigarette smoke, he quickly stubbed it out in the ashtray he held.
“You just have to listen to the people around here and figure out when management is going to be here. She generally makes planned visits here with potential renters. That’s the only downside to that.”
Aiden was about to make another comment before he was interrupted by a little girl grabbing onto his pants leg, looking at the red haired girl he had been talking to.
“Daddy, who’s that?”
“This is…” He trailed off. They hadn’t introduced themselves yet. “Uh, well…”
“Oh! My name’s Joine~” She smiled at the girl.

The young girl looked at her surroundings. She had no idea where she was or what had been happening. One day she just fell asleep, and had this insane dream involving romance, gore, and her heart getting broken somehow.
Oh well. With a memory as bad as her’s, it’d be a distant memory soon.
Aiden watched the girl for a moment from the steps of an apartment building. She seemed clueless about where she was, not that where she was, was a grand sight to see or anything. Nor did she seem familiar. He hadn’t seen her around before, unless a new family moved in, which he doubted. Rumors of it would have spread by now.
Flicking the ashes from his cigarette into the ash tray he was holding, he glanced over to the apartment complex playground where a little girl was playing before getting up and going to the confused girl.
“Hey there, lil miss,” he called out to her, “Need some help?”
She blinked at the man who had called to her. She smiled nervously. “Uhhh, yeah! Could you tell me where I am, please~?”
“City, State, or Country?” He laughed lightly, giving her a light smile. “Haha, kidding. You’re in Jupiter. You obviously seem a bit lost, lovely. Need help getting anywhere?”
“Uhm… I just need a direction to the poorer side of town? Errr, if there even is a poor side of this town… I’m looking for somewhere to stay, y’know?”
